Carter Melnik (2024 LHP, Lowell, MI) threw two shutout innings and has good command with his fastball and curveball.  Melnik draws lots of contact resulting in pop-outs and ground-outs.

Kyler Larson (2023 RHP, Kent City, MI) threw two shutout innings with a fastball that topped at 85.  Larson is also a solid hitter at the plate with a double to left center.

Michael Skarda (2024 1B, Rockford, MI) is a lefty that can hit for power and contact.  Skarda has fast hands and turned on an inside fastball for a double down the right field line.

35-Royal vs. 36-White Game Highlights

12/28/2021

Cristian De Los Santos (2025 3B, Miami, FL) had a couple of well-struck baseballs including an opposite field single. De Los Santos is a physical right-handed hitter with plenty of bat speed and strength to all fields.

Rocco Demarinis (2024 1B, Tampa, FL) found a couple of barrels as well including a single back up the box and a line out to second base. There's quick wrists and good feel for covering the plate.

Eddie Del Valle (2023 LHP, Gurabo, PR) worked the fastball up to 84 mph and showed good life out of the hand. The arm action is smooth and easy with good feel for a changeup too.

Angel Santiago Velazquez (2024 SS, Hialeah, FL) had two knocks and is super athletic in the box. He also made a nifty defensive play late in the game to turn a nice force out at second base.

Hector Roca (2024 C, Homestead, FL) had a couple of barrels including a crushed double to the pull side. The Miami commit is super physical and the power plays to all parts of the park.

Game Highlights 15-Gold vs 16-Gray

12/28/2021

Luis Abraham (2024 RHP, Viera, FL) showed above average command of his breaking ball from a long and loose arm. Worked it throughout the strike zone and varied the speed and shape throughout his outing. Pitched backwards allowing his fastball to play up. Punched out seven over four innings of work.

Jonathan Matos (2025 C, Cocoa, FL) displays strength in his swing from a stocky build. Hammered a double deep to left field in his first at-bat and duplicated the feat in his second at-bat. Present bat speed is average but has some punch in the barrel with strong wrists and leverage through contact. Strong lower-half base the uses the body well to generate pop.

William Alvarez (2024 SS, Miami, FL) is an ultra-aggressive player with instincts for the game. Laced a hard lined ball to left-field in his second at-bat by getting the barrel head out and ambushing a fastball. Hammered another ball on a line to centerfield and was robbed of a base hit by a diving play by the centerfielder. He finds a way to get the barrel on time consistently. Moves well on the bases without elite speed making up for it with solid instincts.

Luis Gomez (2023 1B, Royal Palm Beach, FL) works from a full 3/4 -slot with a loose arm and serious arm-sized run to both sides of the plate. Flashes a small slider that pairs well with his fastball. His command is not pinpoint but he is in the zone more than enough to be effective. Struck out four in two innings on the mound.

Hunter Smith (2024 LHP, Canton, GA) mixed an array of pitches from multiple slots to miss barrels and compete well on the mound. Command is average presently but with some cleaning of the lower half in the delivery he will have a chance to develop more consistency. Showed the ability to get the slider to the back foot of right-handed hitters. Struck out five hitters in three innings with 61% strikes.

Kevin Hammond (2023 C, Keller, TX) railed a double down the line in left in his final at-bat of the day. Long levers and bat speed create leverage out front with the ability to pull the ball with authority. Thin and wiry with strength in the swing.
