Shelby comes from a strong baseball family, as his father, John Shelby, played 11 years in the big leagues and is currently a coach for the Brewers. One of his brothers, John Shelby Jr., is a Brewers area scout, and another brother, JaVon, is a star player in the SEC at Kentucky. Like his father and brothers, Jaren also possesses high-level tools, and the compactly-built outfielder oozes with quick-twitch athleticism, big arm strength and impressive strength and pop to his pull side.
