Although Shumpert shares the same position on the field as his father, 14-year Major League veteran Terry Shumpert, he has a very different tool set. The younger Shumpert is a strong, quick-twitch athlete who has more raw bat speed and power potential than the normal top middle infield prospect. His 6.5 speed in the 60-yard dash is an asset both on the bases and in the field, and his 90 mph arm strength and overall athleticism also makes him a plus defender both at shortstop and second base.
