Sam Decker is a 2023 RHP/3B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Olathe, KS who attends Olathe West. Average athletic build. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch with a short stride down the mound and a side arm slot with a release point on the far third base side of the mound. His mid 70's fastball has arm side run to it and he did a nice job of locating it to both sides of the plate. His slider is his best off speed pitch and has horizontal break that pairs well with his fastball. Developing feel for a change up that has some fading action as well. In the infield he showed some fundamental footwork with longer steps getting around the baseball, catches the ball cleanly, some lateral quickness and a solid average throwing arm with accuracy. At the plate hit from a wide base with a small leg kick, showed a flat bat path thru the zone with some strength in his swing and feel for the barrel. Primarily made opposite field contact with some ability to drive the baseball that way. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
