2021 West Academic Showcase (Wed/Thur)  
Brenden Pinney is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Grass Valley, CA who attends Nevada Union. Medium frame, long and lean with lanky proportions; projects to add strength. Mainly pitcher worked from stretch only with a slight turn, tuck, and lift on an average front knee. Hands lift with leg before cross-fire delivery and inverted "W" shape as extension occurs down the hill. Front side lands bent allowing for higher 3/4 release. Fastball (up to 75 MPH) worked the top of the zone and flashed angle to the glove-side. The slider was lateral with cross-plate actions and a small sweep. The change-up showed an armside fade off the fastball. Worked with good feet and hands showing quick reactions at first base and flashed some athletic skills on the bag. Offensively, works with a wide-even stance utilizing a toe-tap. Long swing looks to lift and pull the ball.
