2022 Northeast Prospect Showcase (Tues-Wed)
Gavin Desley is a 2026 SS/RHP, 2B, MIF with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from South Yarmouth, MA who attends Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.17 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with two hands, deeper arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point, showed ability to shorten arm action on the charge play, maintains slot, accuracy on throws across diamond. Also pitched, quick turn into a leg lift up to belt with a hip turn at top; similar arm action through the back, does a nice job of working on top of the fastball, topped out at 71 mph with occasional cut given release, lands slightly closed with strike foot. Missed bats when down in the zone, able to induce weak contact, flashed a curveball with 12-6 shape up to 56 mph and turned over a rare changeup at 62 mph with very low spin. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Stays inside the ball, handsy swing and does a nice job of staying short to the ball ball through the zone. Creates occasional lift, comfort working to the middle of the field, bat speed will continue to develop with added physicality. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
