2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
David Harden is a 2006 RHP/1B//3B from Kennesaw Mountain High School in Marietta, GA, with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame. Harden has a great pitcher's body that is strong, durable, and still projectable. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with clean mechanics and good tempo. Harden generates good arm speed with minimal effort, and stays balanced and online. He gets late life on his fastball that topped out at 88 mph with sink at times. Everything works well for Harden and we expect him to be a 90s guy in the future. To go along with his lively fastball, Harden mixes in a sharp curveball at 74 mph with good depth. He also shows a good feel for his change-up at 75 mph. Harden has good control of his pitches and mixes them well. He maintains his velocity out of the stretch as well. Offensively he has an aggressive swing with good bat speed from an upright and open stance. There is strength in his swing with raw power. Harden has potential at the plate, but we think he has the greatest upside on the mound. He is an excellent student as well.
