Cesar Mercado is a 2026 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Salinas, CA who attends Palma. Features a bigger build with some strength present. Ran a 7.76 60-yard dash. Worked out at first base and in the outfield. Displayed sound footwork on the dirt with the ability to work around ground balls. Solid glove actions caught the ball well on a consistent basis. Hands played in the outfield well. Helped transition well into long arm action throws. Was accurate a majority of the time. Threw 71 mph during defensive drills. Left-handed hitter. Utilizes an upright stance with an even base. Stays balanced throughout the low effort swing. Showed good feel for the barrel using a slight uppercut path. Gets good extension out front after contact. Uses a pure pullside approach. Has some power that way when on time. Threw the ball well on the mound. Lefthanded pitcher. Threw exclusively out of the stretch.Tall and fall mechanics use the lower half efficiently. Throws from a 3/4 slot using a long arm action. Still developing the ability to stay on-line with the frontside consistently. The fastball sat 68-71 mph with slight armside run. Creates good angle on the offering through the zone. Paired the heater with a changeup at 63-66 mph with fading action. Creates solid deception on the offering by maintaining arm speed. The offering is tough for hitters to pick up out of the hand, leading to a fair share of whiffs. Also flashed a slider at 62-64 mph with short action. Still developing confidence in the offering. An intriguing young arm overall with upside.
