Matthew Castillo is a 2024 3B/RHP, 1B with a 5-10 135 lb. frame from San Jose, CA who attends Prospect. Lanky build. Flashed decent traits on the infield. Made the routine play. Continuing to further develop footwork should be a focus, but used athleticism to make the plays needed, Showcased an accurate arm. Slightly open stance in the box with hand high at the head. Line drive approach. Used the entire field well. Additional strength to frame would allow for hard hit contact more consistently. Simple operation on the mound. Tall and fall delivery. Robotic at times. Low effort. Short arm path with ¾ arm slot. Slight crossfire allows him to hide the ball fairly well. FB sat 60-65 mph with occasional sink. Threw for strikes. Paired with CB which sat 50-55 mph with big, 12-6 action. Relies on command to get outs. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
