James Furchner is a 2023 C/3B with a 5-11 205 lb. frame from Rapid City, SD who attends Stevens. Recorded a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary catcher with a physical frame and present strength. Begins from a low stance with staggered feet behind the plate. Used a long arm action and gained ground well. Throws were consistently accurate on the bag. Also worked out in the infield and fielded the ball cleanly with two hands out front. Right-handed hitter and starts with a wide base and even feet. Employs a toe tap trigger and swings with lots of intent. Turns the barrel over hard and showed strength to the wrists. Flashed some good pop. Excellent student.
