Trent Buckley is a 2027 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Columbia, MS who attends Columbia Academy. A taller frame with length to his build. Projectable frame moving forward as he continues to fill out. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. A primary right-handed pitcher with slower and deliberate mechanics. He starts from the wind-up, using a side-step to get started before he uses a leg lift up above the belt with a shorter arm action thru the back. The ball comes out clean from a higher three-quarters release, featuring some looseness to the arm stroke. Slow to fast wind-up, making him hard to time up for some hitters, being able to disrupt timing. The fastball was up to 88 mph and held 83-86 mph, playing well up in the zone to miss some bats. The pitch had ride to it. Showed a curveball with 11/5 shape with good depth to it, with spin up to the 2,245 RPM mark. He also flashed the changeup as well. He filled up the zone and rolled up quick outs early on in his outing. Threw 3.0 innings with 1 hit and 4 strikeouts to his credit. He's a left-handed hitter with higher-set hands, a high back elbow, and some pre-pitch movement of the hands up top. He showed off bat speed and hit some hard line drives during his round of BP swings. He had strength at impact and was able get on the barrel to drive it. He had a double in-game as well, finding a barrel to drive it. Produced an 88 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Also worked out as a first baseman, fielding it up the middle of his body, letting it go on a good flight. He has a longer arm action with some looseness to the arm. Throws were across the diamond at 86 mph. Excellent student. Named to the 2023 14U PG Select Festival.
