2021 Sunshine East Showcase
Davis Velez is a 2022 SS/IF with a 5-10 167 lb. frame from Bayamon, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Medium frame with a lean and projectable build. Ran a 7.05 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well laterally and gets to the spot well, fields it softly with two hands out front and gets rid of the ball cleanly with throws clocked up to 79 mph across. Right-handed hitter, sets up even and in line using a big leg lift trigger; shows fast hands working tight through the zone, doesn't get very extended but is able to get the barrel out consistently enough and produced a heavy amount of line drive contact to the middle and pull side. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
