2023 California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Ford Stoen is a 2026 1B/RHP, IF, OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Wayzata, MN who attends Benilde-St. Margaret's. He has a tall frame with a long and lean build and plenty of room to add strength. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.58 seconds. Primary first baseman that showed advanced skills around the bag and when fielding the ball. He does a nice job of funneling it into his chest and threw with a long and fluid arm action. He showed nice accuracy across the diamond and was able to initiate the double plays well. Secondary right-handed pitcher that uses a moderate leg kick and has a fluid delivery. He has a loose shoulder and throws with a medium arm action. His fastball has nice life through the zone and stays on plane well. His primary off speed pitch is his changeup that showed nice fade when he located it arm side and has depth as well. His curveball has solid depth and a little bit of horizontal movement to it as well. Also worked out on the infield, using his light feet to work into a good fielding position. He showed similar arm strength to his first base workout and fired with accuracy to the base. Offensively, he starts with a wide base and an upright stance. He has a linear bat path through the zone that allows him to create backspin on his line drives. His swing is rotational and he showed nice quickness in his hands. Outstanding student. Named to the 2023 California Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
