2021 13U/14U Sunshine Rocky Mountain Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Reid Jacobson is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 6-0 145 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends La Cueva. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, athleticism and twitch in actions, glove plays at the ball both forehand and backhand, shows some smoothness in footwork, plays under control on the charge, throws show carry across the diamond and project moving forward. Showed range in the outfield, quick transfer and arm stroke on throws, balanced actions and repeats, shows some carry on throws to intended base. Also pitched, knee to chest leg lift at start, longer arm action through the back with present arm speed , works to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, nice whip to arm, heater shows running life to arm side and jumps out of hand. Slider up to 75 mph plays off the fastball very well, tough to pick up out of hand with sharp bite and 10-4 shape. Also flashed a curveball at 68 mph. Left-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open and balanced stance at the plate; utilizes a short toe turn trigger for timing. Moves into contact and creates separation at point of contact, utilizes an all fields approach, works on a linear path, occasionally gets front foot down early. Excellent student. Named to 13u/14u Rocky Mountain Top Prospect List.
