John Poleway is a 2023 C/1B/OF with a 5-10 157 lb. frame from West Nyack, NY who attends Clarkstown South Senior. Medium, compact build with some lean muscle throughout his frame. Recorded a 4.07-second thirty time. Primary catcher, low, side saddle set up with some quickness in his actions. Clean glove-to-hand transfer with a mid-line transfer. Gets out the crouch well, gaining ground towards his target, shorter arm action as he is continuing to develop arm strength, up to 67 mph on his throws to second base. Recorded a best pop time of 2.11-seconds. Secondary outfielder, fields off to the side with deliberate footwork as he plays through the ball. Short arm action, getting on top of his throws to the plate, up to 69 mph. Carries momentum through his throws well. Projects better behind the plate as he displayed strong leadership intangibles while working with pitchers. Right-handed hitter, wide, balanced stance with a high-hand set. Elevated stroke with flashes of middle-of-the-field impact when on time. Rotational lower half, leaking open as he tended to pull off the ball during his round. Developing feel for the barrel. Tremendous student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
