2021 Pittsburgh Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Matthew McGeorge is a 2023 3B/RHP, C with a 5-8 180 lb. frame from Massillon, OH who attends Massillon Washington HS. Matthew is a strong and sturdy player with emerging ability that should allow for continued growth in the game. In addition to his fundamentally sound ability on the diamond, Matthew is also a solid student in the classroom. He ran an 8.33 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, Matthew has the instincts and body type to progress behind the plate. He shows a sound and consistent set up and his glove plays. He shows noticeable quickness in getting out of the chute and his 69 mph throws and 2.16 pop times were routine and class-level appropriate. Matthew also took a turn on the infield. His footwork was routinely consistent and his glove plays. His transition was sound and his 78 mph throws across the diamond showed both carry and accuracy. At the dish, Matthew has sound ability and emerging power potential. His compact and noticeably strong build allow him to use his lower half well. He incorporates his strong hands with every pass and gets his barrel to and through contact well. Solid look at the plate. Matthew's game now is well above average for his age group. It is very obvious through his body language and hustle that he loves playing the game. With continued attention to improving his strength and his overall game, he has a solid chance to play at the next level.
