2020 California Workout Camp (Sunday)
Paul Kim is a 2023 SS/2B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Cerritos, CA who attends Cerritos HS. Paul is a medium framed, gifted athlete who shows quick and nimble actions and plus feel for the game. In addition to his commendable talent on the field, Paul is also a high achiever in the classroom. He ran a solid 7.17 60 yard dash. A primary middle infielder, Paul shows both twitch and athleticism. He has a certain rhythm to his fielding action that is usually reserved for infielders who play at the highest levels. He positions quickly and plays behind and through the ball. His glove work is pure and easy, His transition is consistent and smooth and his 73 mph throwing velocity allows his tosses to be firm and hold their plane across the diamond. All his throws are true and accurate. A lot of feel and upside in and with his defensive game. At the plate, Paul utilizes a short, compact, and direct path to the ball. He is a contact first, top of the order type hitter. His line drive approach fits his body type and obvious athleticism. He'll probably never be a big power guy, but he'll be on base a lot when the big power guys come to the dish. Very sound offensive operation. There is a lot to like about this young players game. He gets it and he'll only get better. Exposure to higher level competition and a strong HS weight and conditioning program, will make this young athlete a definite prospect moving forward. Big upside. Highly projectable.
