Jose Roig is a 2024 MIF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Doral Academy Charter. A medium frame with some strength in the build. Room to keep adding more. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder. fields the ball cleanly up the middle with a snatchy backhand and soft hands overall. Had some whip-to-the-arm action. Made the difficult plays and threw 81 mph across the diamond. A right-handed hitter with a very upright stance. Showed off good bat speed with some whip to the barrel. Gets the front foot down and adjusts well. Rotates through contact and controls the barrel well. He backspun liners to both sides during his round of BP. Picked up a home run pull-side during the games, getting the barrel out front and crushing one to deep left. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher. Had a leg lift up to the knees out of the stretch. Threw from a high three-quarters slot. His fastball was firm and commanded well to both sides of the plate. Threw mostly fastballs early on. Creates some downhill plane on the fastball. Showed a breaking ball with 11-5 shape to it; was a little more slurvy in the second inning. Had a cutting changeup in the mid-70s that he showed later in the outing. He changed eye level vertically working north/south and having success in doing so. Fastball was up to 81 mph and spun at 2,238 RPMs. Breaking ball was slower in the low-70s and spun up to 2,223 RPMs. Punched out 5 hitters over 3 innings of work. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
