John Baumel is a 2024 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Dublin, OH who attends Bishop Watterson. Large frame with a physical build. Ran a 7.36 second sixty yard dash. Primary Right-Handed Pitcher, works into a side step to a higher lift. Stays compact at the top before striding out. Medium arm swing to a higher slot release. Drives down the hill with the lower half and gets over front side. Lands a bit closed off at times. Whip to the arm and generates easy velocity. Fastball up to 84 mph with spin rates up to 2021 rpm. Secondary was a slurvy breaking ball in the mid-60's with spin rates up to 68 mph. Secondary First Third Baseman, sitting back a bit as he does a good job working into it with the baseball in front of him. Clean gather with a quick transfer. Arm works with carry to throws up to 83 mph. Left-Handed Hitter, balanced to start working into a big leg lift to stride. Stays short to the baseball with a naturally lofted cut. Drives through the baseball looking to drive it into the gaps. Has serious pop in the swing that was shown in games with an opposite field homerun. Found multiple other barrels. Good Student. Named to Ohio Valley Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
