LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Weech is a 6-2 junior first baseman from Florida with good strength, especially in his lower half. He threw 74 mph across the field during infield drills. Weech hits from a no stride approach at the plate with very little involvement from his lower half and a hand hitch load. He hits mostly to the opposite field. This is more of a contact hitters approach and Weech could become a power hitter with some adjustments because he has the strength. Weech also pitched 4 effective innings at the showcase. His fastball was in the 78-80 mph range from a smooth and controlled delivery that he repeated well. He has a short compact arm stroke. His curveball had good 2-plane break to it and pretty good spin at 65-67 mph and he threw a 68 mph change up. He does some things well for a secondary pitcher and could continue to further improve in this part of his game. Weech is a good student as well.
