Alex Bush is a 2007 C/1B/3B/P with a 6'2'', 187 lb. frame from Maryville TN, who attends Maryville HS. He ahs a very strong, well proportioned pro profile type of build. Bush threw 73 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.93. He receives the ball very well behind the plate and has relaxed, easy actions defensively. He gets rid of the ball quickly on his throws and makes accurate throws. Offensively, Bush has a rock back load to start his swing and a long, smooth swing with good extension through the ball. Bush has some raw bat speed but his swing lengthened out during games. His swing mechanics are good and he should be able to hit mediocre pitching well but he'll have to shorten things up against upper level pitching. Overall Bush is a solid defensive catcher with a plus body and the physical strength and basic swing to develop as a hitter. He is also an outstanding student.
