Mason Montana is a 2024 C/1B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Bakersfield, CA who attends Frontier HS. Mason is a young, emerging player who shows great energy and attention to detail on the field. He ran a 7.62 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, Mason shows consistent and routine ability with the gear on. He sits a bit tall in his stance, but appears comfortable. He has a sense of ease with receiving pitches. He gains ground well and his 65 mph throws, while not nearly what they are going to be when he matures, show a solid arm action and have accuracy to the base. Mason is a try hard guy who is only going to get better. As he enters HS ball and gets into a HS weight room, his skill behind the plate, which has a solid foundation, will certainly make a big jump. At the plate, Mason again shows great effort. He makes consistent contact with the ball. His bat path is flatter and he show an ability to hit the ball to all fields. Again, once he starts to gain some physicality, he'll get stronger and his ability to impact the ball will grow. His swing operation is really good. Mason has a solid foundation on which to build, It is very apparent that baseball is important to him. His noticeable effort level, coupled with his fundamental soundness, will certainly help him as he moves forward in and with his career.
