Rigo Mercedes is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from East Elmhurst, NY who attends St. Mary's. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.67 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, presents the glove out front and fields it cleanly with present softness in hands, has feel for footwork and repeats, can continue to work through the baseball into release, gets it out of glove quickly and shows present arm strength and carry on throws across diamond. Also pitched, full windup on the mound, shows comfort working backwards to set up hitters; pitches to contact, fastball topped out at 78 mph with short sink through the zone and shows comfort with steep 11-5 shaped curveball which he's able to miss bats with; will vary look and mix consistently. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a tighter hand set with low back elbow. Shows looseness in hands, projects with added physical strength, best contact when getting extended out front. Shows some flashes of carry when squared up, can work the gaps, has tools to build upon moving forward. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
