Derek Valentin is a 2024 C/3B/OF with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Manati, PR who attends Piaget Bilingual Academy. Showed above average speed with a 6.87 second sixty. Primary catcher with a medium compact build. Sits higher in his stance working out of the crouch and into the throws with compact actions gaining limited ground. Made accurate throws getting ride of the ball quickly to record a 1.97 second sixty. Right-handed hitter, start even in his stance with a toe tap trigger. Attacks the inner half of the baseball with quicker hands while the bat path shows some loft allowing him to get the ball in the air with some pull side juice. Good student. Named to the 2022 Sunshine East Top Prospect List.
