Ryan Downey is a 2024 2B/RHP, C with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Massapequa, NY who attends Massapequa. Smaller, compact frame with a high waist, square shoulders and plenty of room to add strength. Primary infielder with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Displayed active footwork into the fielding process, works downhill through the baseball and showcased good lateral range from side-to-side. Showed ability to make the play on the run and recorded arm strength up to 75 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary catcher that received from a high, side-saddled stance with softness to his hands and a quick, direct midline transfer. Gains ground out of the crouch efficiently and produced accurate, online throws from behind the dish during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced, even stance with a lower, tight hand set and toe-tap trigger. Whole field approach with short, compact stroke and feel for the barrel. Stays connected well throughout the swing and consistently found the barrel. Will continue to expand his power tool with additional physical maturity. Fundamentally sound prospect with upside on both sides of the ball, will continue to improve with proper mechanical adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
