2022 Fall Northeast Showcase
Michael Gardner is a 2025 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Oyster Bay, NY who attends Chaminade. Medium, athletic frame with a high waist and some quick twitch athleticism. Recorded a 6.99 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with a quick first step, proper and clean footwork throughout the fielding process and plenty of present arm strength across the diamond. Works downhill through the baseball, displays plenty of lateral range to either side and recorded arm strength up to 86 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a quick pace, higher leg lift and drop-and-drive lower half mechanics. Fastball worked in the upper-70s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 81 mph from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with command to both sides of the plate, expands the zone to all four quadrants when ahead in the count. Mixed in promising slider as go-to secondary offering, as it flashed sharp horizontal bite at times when thrown with conviction. Will continue to add velocity with physical maturity and has tons of upside remaining on the mound. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a tight hand set, low back elbow and small leg lift trigger. Compact, line drive stroke with quickness to his hands, some feel for the barrel and burgeoning gap-to-gap power potential. Simple, repeatable swing path with short, direct plane that project long term, will continue to expand his overall hit tool and power potential with additional strength. Excellent Student. Named to the 2022 Fall Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List.
