2020 California Workout Camp (Saturday)
Travis Curry is a 2024 SS/RHP, 3B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Ranchio Santa Margarita, CA who attends Tesoro. Medium frame with a lean, athletic type build. Ran a 7.63 second sixty yard dash. Primary Shortstop, showing great first step instincts as he moves well laterally. Clean gather as he scoops it up with confidence. Starting to show some whip to the arm as he threw it 74 mph during drills with accuracy from multiple slots. Projects well here as the feel for the position is obvious. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, working with a balanced operation as he lifts to the belt while coiled up before he drives down the mound. Longer takeaway in the back before he does a good job of getting down the hill. Pounded the strike zone with a good fastball that was up to 79 mph. Also mixed in a tight breaking 12-to-6 curveball that is a swing and miss type pitch. Proved to have some feel for a fading changeup as well. Upside showing on the mound. Right-Handed Hitter, starting spread out with weight on his back leg. Does not create much separation as the hands sink before he works into a linear swing path. Changed up leg lifts as he went on the run into some barrels. Middle of the field approach as he looked to spray it on a line. Great Student.
