2023 Sunshine South Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Camden Babcock is a 2024 3B/RHP, OF with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Needville, TX who attends Needville. Primary third baseman with a thick build showing some strength on the frame. showed good speed with a 6.91 second sixty. Showed solid footwork with the defensive action on the infiel. Is able to keep the feet moving as he works into the throw with a longer arm action showing plenty gf arm strength to stay on the left side of the field. In the outfield the arm strength stood out with easy carry to the bases. The footwork he shows helps to keep him on the move and carry momentum into the throws. Works from the first base side of the rubber using a higher arm slot to create some angle on the fastball that topped out at 83 mph. Showed two breaking balls with a curveball that works top to bottom mostly in the mid 70's while the slider lands with more of a cutter action in the upper 70's. Right-handed hitter, uses a toe tap trigger with some weight shift into contact. Used the big part of the field with some success during batting practice where the bat speed and direct path play when the front side is down and not. leaking early as he gets to contact. Excellent student. Named to the 2023 Sunshine South Showcase Top Prospect List.
