2022 Pitcher / Catcher Indoor Showcase
Colt Shives is a 2023 RHP/IF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny. He has a good frame with a slender build and plenty of room to fill out. Primary right-handed pitcher that uses an above the belt leg kick and works in line with the plate well. He has a compact delivery and has a short stride down the mound. His arm action is long and in line, and he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. His fastball is straight and he worked it to both sides of the plate. His changeup is his best secondary pitch and features slight fade when it gets close to the zone. He did a nice job of keeping the changeup down in the zone, making it tough for hitters to square up the pitch. His curveball has 12-6 break and he has developing feel for the pitch. Right-handed hitter that starts in an even and open stance with high hands and a low back elbow. He starts with his weight all the way back and has a downhill swing that allows him to generate backspin on his line drives when he makes contact out in front of the plate.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
