Matthew Contreras is a 2028 C/OF with a 5-4 125 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Small, young frame that will mature naturally in coming years. Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, showed good athleticism and footwork, good progress from crouch through release, quickness to the overall process, developing arm strength with good fundamentals in place. Secondary outfielder, tendency to stay back on the baseball, translated the bounce from behind the dish to the outfield with clean footwork, short quick release from the grass. Right-handed hitter, narrow base with low hand set, separated, casted the swing on occasion, flat bat path through the zone, impacted it out front well when the bat path was maintained and extension was achieved. Solid piece for a single in game with good actions behind the dish as well handling a pitcher. Has athleticism and traits to project on long term with added size and strength that will naturally come as growth occurs.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
