James Tucker Davis is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Rancho Cucamonga, CA who attends Damien. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long arms, projectable frame with room to fill. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, big side step moving into delivery, high leg lift up past belt, deliberate tempo with some drop and drive off back side; can quicken tempo, short arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 73 mph, mostly true fastball with occasional sink, maintains out of the stretch. Worked only off of fastball, will get inconsistent with release point at times, most effective when getting on hitters hands. Righthanded hitter, begins with a tall and even stance with a high hand set at the plate; utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing. Longer swing path through the zone, works to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Best when working on a linear plane, occasionally gets downward with path, long finish through the ball, shows ability to use all fields in game, projects with added strength. Very good student.
