Brandon Bonner is a 2007 RHP with a 6'5'', 220 lb. frame from St. Petersburg Beach FL, who attends Lakewood HS. He has a tall, high waisted build and could get really, really strong as he matures. Bonner has a simple turn and throw delivery but spins hard off his front leg, which affects his ability to get the ball down in the strike zone consistently. Bonner's arm action is long and loose and comes through to a mid 3/4's release point with very good extension out front. Bonner's fastball topped out at 91 mph and he's been in the 90's every time we've seen him throw. His best off-speed pitch was an 80-83 mph change up that had very good running action and that he should throw more often. With his release point and arm action, throwing a quality curveball will be a challenge for Bonner, he was consistently under this pitch and he might be better off throwing a slider. Bonner has all the talent to be a dominant power right hander; he's a bit raw right now but the arm strength and ability is obvious.
