Viet Nguyen is a 2024 RHP/3B, OF with a 5-9 158 lb. frame from Plymouth, MN who attends Wayzata. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, straight up and down leg lift at start of delivery, short arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Good direction down the mound and lands online. Fastball topped out at 77 mph, mostly true in life, pitches to contact and worked three pitches around the zone. 11-5 shape to curveball, shows depth, bite will continue to develop; also mixed a changeup with some downward life at 61 mph. Fields the ball to side in the outfield, similar short arm action, gets uphill at times at release, quicker transfer. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow stance and a high hand set, shows quickness to hands with a short stroke through the zone, utilizes a long stride moving into contact. Hands stay close to body, looks to lift at point of contact and gets uphill at times, projects with additional extension in stroke.
