Jose Mendoza Jr. is a 2027 OF/RHP, C with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Zion, IL. He has a medium frame with a lean, athletic build and plenty of room to add strength as he continues to develop. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.67 seconds. Primary outfielder that showed advanced feel fundamentally. He does a nice job of fielding the ball with one hand off his front foot and stays low throughout the process. He transfers the ball cleanly and throws with a longer, whippy arm action that allows him to generated nice carry on his throws. He was accurate, throwing the ball consistently on one or two hops to the base. Secondary right-handed pitcher that uses a knee to above the belt leg kick and slight drop and drive back leg mechanics to push down the mound. He does a nice job of landing in line with the plate and has a shorter stride down the mound that allows him to finish out over his front foot. He uses a long, circular arm action that is slightly offline and fires from a high 3/4 arm slot. He primarily leaned on his fastball, working it away from opposing hitters, but also features a curveball with short horizontal and vertical break. He showed the athleticism on the mound to fill the zone up with both offerings. Also worked out behind the plate, starting with a slightly open stance and throwing with a short arm action. He has quick hands and is able to release the ball on target efficiently. Left-handed hitter that starts with a wider base with high hands and a high back elbow. He uses a leg lift trigger for timing and has a flatter path through the zone. He has a middle of the field approach and looks to hit hard line drives. He showed the ability to be on time and make hard contact to the pull side of the field on inner half pitches as well.
