Brad Parry is a 2007 LHP with a 6'1'', 225 lb. frame from Lake Forest CA, who attends El Toro HS. Parry is a crafty lefty, with very good secondary stuff and command of a variety of pitches. He has a thick, big boned body type but actually displays quite good body control on the mound. He pitches from an over the top slot and has an easy arm action. The longer his outing went on, the more rhythm he developed, ultimately settling in and throwing a lot of quality strikes. Parry pitches with his fastball well. He topped out at 78 mph and pitched near there, but at this point it is not about his velocity. He showed command on both sides of the plate and can even turn it over for more sink action. Parry's curveball is a very good pitch, with good spin. It is a big curveball, with a lot of rolling depth, so much so at times that hitters were locked up by it, not believing it could come from as high as it is into the strike zone. Parry got a lot of bats started with the curveball, but did not give up much contact. It seems that Parry emulates David Wells in not only his approach to pitching, but with his repertoire as well, and he does it quite well. He is an exceptional student and really has feel for the baseball. Schools that have academic money available and are looking for quality left hand pitching should probably look into Brad Parry.
