Yired Ortiz Falcon is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 158 lb. frame from Toa Baja, PR who attends Escuela Libre de Musica Ernesto Ramos Antonini. Young and slender build with lots of room to get stronger. Primary left handed pitcher, has a full hands over head delivery with a high and flexible leg raise, extended 3/4's arm slot, low effort smooth mechanics. Fastball worked mostly in the low 70's, mostly straight, moves it around the zone with intent. Change up was his best secondary pitch with good arm speed. Curveball and a cutter-like slider melded together at times. 8.24 runner in the sixty. Played both first base and the outfield when not on the mound, was much more comfortable and athletic at first base with good footwork and soft handed. Left handed hitter, hits from an open and spread stance with a big leg pull back load, foot can be late getting down at times, level line drive swing with contact to all fields. Excellent student.
