Carlos Jeremiah Vargas is a 2024 SS/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Eastlake. Medium, square shouldered frame with a high waist and well-proportioned strength throughout. Recorded a 7.01 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with athletic movements throughout the fielding process. Works downhill through the baseball, displayed a clean funnel out in-front and produced accurate throws across the diamond. Showed the ability to change arm slots when necessary and recorded arm strength up to 78 mph during drills. Secondary outfielder with similar athleticism during the outfield portion of the defensive workout. Works uphill through the baseball into release, produced throws up to 76 mph during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, even base with a high hand set, high back elbow and small leg lift trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics, slightly elongated swing path and developing bat-to-ball skills. Displayed strength in his hands and some quickness to turn the barrel when on-time and in-sync. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and some additional strength. Good Student.
