Andrew Schoelles is a 2023 RHP/2B with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Bayside, NY who attends St. Francis Prep. Recorded a 8.31 second sixty-yard dash time. Long, lanky frame with plenty of time and room to fill out. Primary right-handed pitcher; full windup delivery with small side-step rocker into a high leg lift and shorter stride out to foot strike. Incorporates slight drop and drive lower mechanics down the slope, while working up to a 3/4's arm slot with full arm circle on the backside. Fastball worked in the low-70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 72 mph in this look. Proficient strike thrower who works mostly the upper quadrants with his fastball, while mixing in a 10-5 shaped slider for strikes. Will continue to improve with minor mechanical adjustments and additional velocity. Secondary infielder that incorporates anticipatory footwork through the fielding process, slight waist bend to field out in front and some lateral range to both sides. Fundamentally sound defensive skill set, compact arm action that recorded arm strength up to 72 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly closed stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Hands driven swing with some quickness to them and minimal forward weight shift into contact. All fields approach with short, upward swing path and developing bat-to-ball skills. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
