2020 South Top Prospect Games at Texas A&M
Cody Morse is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 6-5 185 lb. frame from Katy, TX who attends Paetow. A future Houston Cougar, Cody, is a sound pitching prospect with a bright future. His ability on the baseball field is only bettered by his standing in the classroom. where he has proven to be an exceptional student. The long and lean LHP shows all the necessary skills on the hill to not only complete his HS career well, but to impact the college level. He uses a fairly upright rocker step and incorporates a long arm action on the backside. His simple operation includes a consistent up and down movement of the lead leg which allows him to pitch down the slope consistently. His 3/4 slot and long levers add to his deception as the ball appears to jump out of his hand before the hitter is ready. Cody appears to want to establish his 81-85 mph fastball early and often. His heater shows some flat plane to the glove side and sinking and riding life to the arm side. There is more velocity in his arm and it is only a matter of time, along with added strength and experience, before that arrives. His best secondary pitch is his tumbling, 77 mph change up that he tunnels out of his fastball window and throws with fastball arm action. His change is especially effective against RHH. Cody is still developing consistent feel for his 73 mph sweeping curveball. When he gets a better idea on how he wants to consistently shape his breaking ball, he will be a tough P to do much against. His upside is off the charts good.
