Leighton Harris is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Lexington, KY who attends Frederick Douglass. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a leaner build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, side step into a leg lift up to belt, clean arm action through the backside working to a high three-quarters release point, lands closed with strike foot but works over it well, lower effort overall to operation. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, worked around the zone and creates short sinking life to the pitch when working down in the zone. Curveball shows very nice potential, up to 73 mph with spin in the 2700s, hammer shape and depth when on top, 1-7 shape and shows consistent feel to land it for strikes. Arm plays across the infield from first base too, confidence in actions with glove, clean actions throughout and repeats well. Left-handed hitter, begins with a tight hand set, front foot turn load moving into contact with a longer stride through lower half; shows strength in swing and is comfortable working to pull side, full swing path with some present bat speed and will continue to develop moving forward. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Kentucky.
