Jaron Shelby is a 2021 RHP/OF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends St. Thomas. Long and lean frame with some strength in lower half and present athleticism. Recorded a 7.11 second 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, starts with a big side step and gets back over the mound well at gather with a loose leg lift to belt, short arm circle in the back and gets to the release point with ease, good arm speed through a three-quarters slot, fills the zone well with heaviness to the fastball and some sinking life to the arm side, flashed a couple sliders with horizontal spin and developing feel to land them down in the zone. Secondary outfielder, worked out in the outfield with aggressive actions to receive, fields off the front foot with quick movements and a clean funnel, high intensity to release with really strong throws clocked up to 90 mph into the infield. Right-handed hitter, stands tall and starts slightly open with a high hand set, clean path to contact that stays on a line drive barrel plane, works mostly to the middle of the field with developing feel for consistency of the barrel and some impact off the barrel when squared out front. Very good student.
