Wes Hellings is a 2023 RHP/SS with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Summit, NJ who attends Summit. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a long, lean frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, higher leg lift up past belt with hip turn at top, gets tall on backside; compact and hidden arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters slot with a tight release point. Tall finish, projects with additional lower half into drive down mound. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly true in life, works around the zone well. Mixes curveball with comfort and able to miss bats with the pitch, tight spin with short bite up to 74 mph from a similar release point. Full arm action in the infield, works through the backhand well, deliberate tempo to actions, moves well ranging up the middle. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and upright stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a gliding leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Loads hands back at start of swing, shows quickness to hands, linear to downward path, shows a patient approach and a full swing path through the zone. Very good student. Named to Fall Connecticut Top Prospect List.
