Max Torres is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from La Mirada, CA who attends St. Paul High School. Medium, square shouldered frame with present strength on build and additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short and deliberate steps to the ball, fields it out front with two hands and some bend at waist, long arm action through the back side, strides open with lower half through release, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, small side step moving into delivery, leg lift up above waist with a slight hip turn at top; short arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Creates some plane to fastball when on top of the ball, topped out at 75 mph, mostly straight in life with occasional sink. Curveball shows 12-6 shape with downer life, tunneled well at 68 mph, filled the zone and mixed nicely. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and spread stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; upper body dominant swing, gets to front side early with weight shift. Handsy swing and does a nice job of staying short to the ball, linear path through the zone with some whip to the barrel. Projects to unlock more with additional lower half, shows a handle for the barrel with line drive contact coming off. Very good student.
