Griffin Wells is a 2024 SS/RHP, MIF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Pascagoula, MS who attends Pascagoula. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, has room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and shows softness to hands at the ball, glove skills play nicely to the backhand, balanced and athletic actions on feet, nice body control on the charge play, clean arm action with carry on throws across. Also pitched, athletic delivery, leg lift up to belt and gets tall on backside, shorter stride down the mound, quick and compact arm action through the back. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, attacked hitters and worked around the zone, able to work to both sides of the plate and showed a sharp breaker up to 70 mph as a put away pitch. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, weight begins on front side and utilizes a double toe tap trigger for timing at the plate. Does a nice job of getting the barrel out front at the point of contact, linear path through the zone and hands play well in stroke. Has a present feel for contact and can work to all parts of the field, comfort going back up the middle, projects well with added strength. Very good student.
