Malachi Butler is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Powder Springs, GA who attends Mceachern. Medium, square shouldered frame with long limbs and a lean build, room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, sound prep step to work behind the ball and shows athleticism in lateral actions, deliberate footwork, glove plays at the ball and shows present arm strength across the diamond on throws with carry. Light footwork in the outfield and attacks the ball well, shows accuracy to the intended target with some present arm strength behind throws. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, low leg lift into balance point with short stride down the mound. Works across body, creates some sinking life to fastball at times, more cut action to glove side up to 75 mph. Pitched off of fastball, worked in low-70s throughout, showed athleticism in operation. Left-handed hitter, begins with a medium base and slightly open stance with a high back elbow at the plate. Contact oriented approach, shows quickness to hands and a shorter path through the zone. Linear plane to the point of contact, repeats swing and shows ability to work to all fields.
