2022 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Jose Taveras is a 2026 C/RHP/3B with a 5-9 185 lb. frame from Clermont, FL who attends Lake Minneola. Stocky build with good strength for his age. Right handed hitter, hits from an open relaxed stance with a low and deep hand load, has a long and loose swing with good extension through the ball, puts the ball in the air consistently and creates some lift and carry, works the middle of the field. 8.04 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, has good arm strength for his age, tends to stand early and can gain more ground in his footwork, will continue to improve with work on his lower half flexibility and agility. Also worked out in the infield and showed good arm strength there. Took a turn on the mound, has a high energy delivery with a long and fluid arm stroke, has a low 3/4's arm slot that creates some deception for hitters. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with some run and sink, also threw a biting slider to good effect.
