David Hyde is a 2023 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Murphy, TX who attends Wylie. Medium athletic build with room to fill out as he continues to develop. Primary pitcher, has a short arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Smooth and easy motion down the hill, slow and methodical at first then speeds up at the window and generates some violence down the hill. Fastball up to 87 mph, some good natural arm side run on his fastball. Mixes in both a slider and a curveball. Slider possesses a slight hump out of his hand then falls off the table when down in the zone. Curveball is more of a get me over secondary pitch with a high 11-to-5 shape. Sits more in the mid-to-low-80's as he goes deeper into outings. Good pitchability. From the outfield, fields out in front and is meticulous with his reads off of the bat. Moves well into the gap as well as down the line. Strong arm with throws that stay on line to all bags. At the plate, uses an upright and even stance with quick hands that work down through the zone. Looks to drive the ball with every swing he takes. Flashes some raw pop to his pull side, good student in the classroom as well. Named to the South Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
