James Cooley is a 2023 1B/OF with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Highland Park. Large frame with good present physicality. Ran a 7.46 second 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, plays back on the ball a bit but has good energy and intent to his actions, clean receiver out front, transitions into throws well and showed good carry on throws across. Righthanded hitter, physical swinger and takes big hacks, long shift in to the front side and works uphill through the zone, good strength behind the swing and can adjust his hands to get the barrel to either half of the plate. Strength plays in creating hard and long-carried impact, will get to it more with more overall looseness and matching plane. Great student.
