Jose Olmeda is a 2021 SS with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends Boone. Smaller athletic frame with remaining room to fill. Ran a 7.06 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with good range to both sides, shows fluid actions and carries momentum well throughout, confident with the glove and has good arm strength on throws clocked up to 89 mph across. Also pitched, worked a quiet and smooth delivery with a quick arm through a high three-quarters slot, shows good command of the fastball with slight run to the arm side while mixing in feel for a sharp breaking ball as an out pitch. Switch hitter, sets up even with high hands and a high back elbow, shows smoothness with the swing from both sides, stays short to it and turns the barrel over well with more heaviness at contact from the left side.
