Derek De Jesus is a 2024 C/1B with a 5-7 185 lb. frame from Deland, FL who attends Deland High. Medium, square shouldered frame with present strength proportioned well throughout. Primary catcher, lower set behind the plate, gains ground well with footwork coming out of crouch, quick transfer with lots of accuracy on throws to second base with present arm strength, consistent actions and repeats them well, shorter arm action overall. Switch-hitter, graded best from the right side in this look, easy stride into contact following a calmer set up, creates extension out front and shows strength off of the barrel with consistent jump. High hand set and back elbow at the plate in left-handed set up, longer path and looks to lift with some uphill to path, generates bat speed through the zone. Good student. Named to the Florida Prospect Top Prospect List.
